Pleiades Filter Frequency
After plenty of tests with Sennheiser MD-421 microphone at next to mouth distance a range of high cutoff frequencies were tried to compensate for the proximity effect. A range of 14mH to 25mH of Pleiades Filter shunt inductance gives natural voice. This corresponds to 2.2KHz to 1.3KHz at 200 Ohms mic output impedance.
This also agrees with frequencies of less than 1.5KHz being proximity boosted at small distance as seen on curves on Shure's catalog for their Beta 58.
A Pleiades inline filter of 20mH has been made and was given to singer Sophia Manousaki by Stephanos Korkolis. !.6KHz may be just perfect for a female singer giving flat overall frequency response at speech level voice.
A winding of suitable series resistance could be used to stop the Pleiades filter compensating below 150Hz as an SM58 already drops at 6dB per octave.
Ferrite cores seem more suitable as they can take much more winding length for the same inductance.
A Siemens Epcos ferrite of small size and 102 turns giving 15.5mH and 3 Ohms resistance gives promising results with sound body. Should a winding of 20 Ohms be used to create a second turnover at 200Hz?

Perceived Pitch Depends on Sound Intensity
This can easily be verified by adjusting the distance of a tuning fork to your ear while it vibrates.
The higher the intensity the lower the perceived pitch.
Sounds a bit like time expanding!
It makes sense to give singers a very soft volume backing track so they stay in tune, or may be usufull to fine tune a singer while recording.

Using Pleiades Filters with Ribbon Microphones
A great way to use a ribbon mic is to have 3 transformers in the signal path.
One in the mic itself.
One in the microphone preamplifier
And a Pleiades step up autotransformer in between.
For example an effective 1:42 turns ratio with a 1:7 in the preamp and a 1:6 Pleiades can be created using less than a millihenry primary inductance.
A 1:6 Pleiades was yesterday first used on a 25-50 Ohms Grampian ribbon mic.
Only 6 turns primary was wound on Magnetec excellent smallest size Nanoperm toroidal core giving 0.6mH.
For next to lips mic distance even <0.6mH could be used.
The Pleiades low cuts and electromagnetically damps the ribbon making crystal clear voice capture at 1in using 0.6mH. Getting as much voice with least possible thermal noise and low cutting ambience too.
Next experiment will be with even less turns; 5?, 4? in the primary.
It is very refreshing to hear this way a ribbon mic for closest vocals after some 20 years of experiments.
:
The Magnetec core is so good it may be able to handle directly a very high turns ratio of the order of 1:40 or perhaps more.
Some more Pleiades filters may be available in the future on eBay by aetoulis.
Possible next experiments will include lower cutoff and a 2nd pole defined by the value of the source resistor bypass capacitor.

Changing the direction of Entropy in Music
Changing the direction of tape speed time travel can of cource change the direction of entropy and predicting the future.
This can be heard in Abracadabra - Steve Miller Band, where they recorded with the tape backwards. So the guitar's reverb is heard before it's actual note.
Reference:
The excellent book: Good Vibrations (has a few note on Abba using varispeed as mentioned by their engineer Michael Tretow.
Michael Tretow had been playing with tape (time) machines since a kid and this process had become 2d life to him.
How varispeed works
It is difficult to expand or contract time as this requires relativistic speeds.
However on analogue recording it is fairly easy by changing the speed the magnetic tape moves, a disc record rotates or in the digital domain the sampling rate.
This obviously changes the tempo but it is does something else much more important.
Since this process does not naturally occur in real life, for some reason it changes the timbre (formants?) of the vocals making voices sound younger, sweeter and strangely enough more in tune with the equally pitch shifted backing track.
Varispeed experiments.
1 Listening to the effect.:
Great examples are:
I have a Dream-Abba (notice how different the studio version sounds from a live version withoutt varispeed.
To France, Moonlight Shadow- Mike Oldfield
2 Playing with it:
Try a record player with speed change adjustment and listen to how it affects the voice quality. Try a record that has been recorded with varipeed and slow down to hear how the original voice of the singer was.while they were tracking.
3 Recording with it.:
Say your song is in Bminor. You record your backing track normally.. Then you slow down the tape travel so it becomes eg Bb or A minor. You sing and record at this lower key. Then tape speed is brought back to normal so all the song is now in B minor with a fresh young full of energy vocal.
If a tape recorder such a Tascam Porta is not available it can be digitaly done with the software Samplitude which has playback (sample rate) micro speed variation at the playback settings which also works on record.

How to get rid of OCDs
1. Imagine you are leaving are already down the stairs and you remember you forgot to touch the door handle at the specific point you should.
You are already in a hurry and have to climb up the stairs wasting tune and energy. The extra stress can multiply your OCDs.
All you have to do is bringing the image to your mind (while pausing or carefully going down the stairs) that you are there at the door handle touching it. So you either pause and soon you can do anything with your mind and save time.
2. Or imagine that there is or has just come a bad thought in your mind and you want to replace it with a good one.. But the good replacement process does not work well at this time of day because of stress etc,
All you gave to do is to say in your language the word
άκυρο
to cancel the bad thought that came to your mind without the need to replace it with anything. These 2 hints will hopefully ave time and possibly teach you that nothing bad will happen and everything in your mind.
Pleiades high cut low pass filter
As Montalk pointed out a Pleiades filter can be used as a high cut too to make a natural voice.
This is done with a Pleiades filter in series with the signal.
2 small windings can be wound on a toroidal core for each part of a balanced cable.
If their orientation is correct they will remove from a high audio frequency to RF and keep the line balanced.
Alternatively just a capacitor can be connected in parallel i.e connected at pins 2 (live), 3 (return) of an XLR adapter.

How to make a Pleiades microphone Filter
To make a Pleiades filter easy one needs a nanocrystalline tape wound core such as a Magnetec 073 or equivalent and some wire.
It can be wound on a ordinary ferrite but the number if turns wound have to be many times more for the same cutoff frequency.

Are negative beings hiding below 20 Hz
There are infinite number of octaves below 20Hz.
20, 20/2, 20/2/2, 20/2/2/2,... i.e.
20, 10, 10/2, 10/4, 10/8, 10/16, ...
Whereas in electromagnetic waves the energy of a photon is proportional to frequency, in acoustic and mechanical vibration waves the penetrating energy is increasing as the frequency is lowered. A10Hz wave with its large wavelength can penetrate easily many walls as you can hear if you live near a night club, or near a railway.
Low frequency and sub audio vibration waves from motors, (fridge, air conditioning, vibration of air ducts coupled to buildings) travel and hug easily a whole building as the wavelength is very large. It is possible that this dramatically affects how people feel if the time exposure is high. The time exposure is usually very high until one decides to move to a new house environment. But your frequency is so lowered by that time, it takes great effort to get away.
A great help can be someone with charisma near you and the great book Fringe Knowledge for Beginners by Montalk (www.montalk.net), or the master fairytale The Little Price by Exupery.. The great tool is aphobia as fear does not exist.
At sub audio frequencies the wavelength becomes huge according to
wavelength = speed of waves in medium / frequency of wave
There seems to be an inverse analogy with photons. There may be a packet of energy, let's call it acouston whose energy is proportional to how low the frequency is.
energy of an acouston = constant x wavelenth
energy of a photon = h x frequency (h: Planck's constant)
Additional notes:
At frequency tending to 0Hz the wavelength tends to infinity and (time) period tends to infinite.
This is our universe, its size and the time it evolves.
Gravity may be a wave of frequency tending to 0Hz.

Instantaneous Signal Limiting
The best way to limit an audio signal is possibly pre emphasis (increasing treble, low cut), then clipping, and then (decreasing treble, high cut).
When a clipped signal is high cut, the flat part will be rounded as harmonics are reduced. Pre emphasis ensures a flat frequency response..
This is what is done on vinyl records, tape recording, radio broadcasting processing as taught by Orban.

A great way to absorb bass in a room is to use membranes of roofing felt.

The Hollywood secret on EQing voice
It is a great mistake in music to assume that a voice must be recorded and reproduced with flat frequency response.
To have a natural voice reproduction from the vocal chords of the actor or singer to the brain of the listener, the low and high frequencies must be reduced in order to restore presence.
This is due to 2 reasons.
1 The voice is usualy reproduced at higher volume than original. According to the Fletcher Manson curves the higher intensity makes our brain think there is more low and higher frequency content.
2 A soft speaking voice has a predominance of low and high frequency content than a loud speaking voice.
Both of these human mechanisms important for survival have to be taken into account.
The Pleiades filter is an attempt to implement this curve with just one electrical component.

Most there is to music making on a few pages by J.S.Bach
When J.S.Bach was around 15, he was given a very important book by a non musician explaining the secrets of music.
This is how it evolved:and handed to Bach's students.
Do not let the title discourage you, All it means is the Art of Music.
Rules and Instructions for Playing Thorough-bass or accompaniment in Four Parts, made for his Scholars in music by Herr Johann Sebastian Bach, of Leipzig, Royal Court Composer and Capellmeister, also director of the Music and Cantor of the Thomasschule, 1738
ELEMENTARY INSTRUCTION IN FIGURED-BASS.
Cap. I.
OF THE ETYMOLOGY
The word Bassus is derived from the Hellenic βάση, which signifies the root or foundation of a thing. Others derive it from the old Latin word bassus, signifying profundus, deep. By the word taken alone is understood the lowest part in music, or any bass part that produces a deep note, whether that note be sung or played upon a bass viol, bassoon, trombone, or the like.
By the term Figured or General-Bass, however is understood a bass that is played on the organ or clavier with both hands in such a way that all or most of the parts in the music are played generaliter os simultaneously or in general terms,, together. It is also called Bassus Continuus, or with the Italian termination, Basso continuo, beacuse it continues throughout the piece, even when the other parts pause now and then, although at the present day this Bass itself frequently pauses, especially in works of great ingenuity of construction.
CAP. II.
DEFINITION OF THE TERM.
Figured bass is the whole foundation of the music, and is played with both hands in such a manner that the left hand plays the notes written down, while the right adds in consonances or dissonances, the result being an agreeable harmony in the glory of God and justifiable gratification of the senses; for the sole end and aim of general-bass, like that of all music, should be nothing else than God's glory and pleasant recreations. Where this object is not kept in view there can be no true music, but an infernal scraping and bawling.
CAP. III.
....
CAP. V.
OF THE HARMONIC TRIAD.
The harmonic triad belongs properly to the subject of composition, but as figured-bass is a beginning of composition, and may even because of the arrangement of consonances and dissonances , be called an extempraneous composition, made by the person who plays the figured bass, the subject of the triad may be fitly mentioned in this place. Now if a person who desires to learn the subject can impress it upon his memory, he she may be sure that he has already mastered a great part of the entire art. The harmonic triad is a combination of the third and fifth which is placed above a bass note, and may be constructed on all the notes, and both in the major and the minor--

Pleiades mic input transformer and Pleiades electra amplifier combined and phantom powered
The Pleiades input transformer can be connected to just an active device (e.g. F.E.T.) and powered by the standard mini jack mic input for Electret condenser mics.
Alternatively 1 or 2 active devices can be connected all inside an XLR adaptor that can be phantom powered.
The above will fully exploit the very high input impedance of the active devices (electron tubes e.t.c.) and the great step up ratio capability of the Pleiades input transformer.

The Pleiades Filter is an inductor in parallel with signal
One implementation is a nanoperm toroid coil inside an XLR adapter for microphones.
Compensates the proximity effect at 6dB per octave and electromagnetically damps moving coil membrane.
It therefore presents a low distortion sparkling high pass signal to the mic preamp.
Another Neumann Secret
The beauty of a tube front end is that gain reduction takes place at high levels.
This is similar to what happens in our outer ear 3 tiny bone variable gain compressor.
This is due to grid leak bias as Armstrong explained and Neumann beautifuly used on the U47.

on pleiades filters
A useful property of Pleiades filters is that if 2 are connected one after the other the new cut off frequency is the sum of their cut off frequencies.
( Using the known relation for 2 inductors in parallel: 1/L=1/L1 + 1/L2 )
f = R / ( 2 x PI x L ) ==>
f = R / (2 x PI) x 1/L ==>
f = R / (2 x PI ) x (1/L1 + 1/L2) ==>
f = R / (2 x PI x L1) + R / (2 x PI x L2) ==>
f = f1 + f2
Pleiades Microphone Preamplifier
Possibly the best way on our planet to amplify the tiniest signal with less noise is to use a battery powered electron tube.
This is done by using a high transconductance variable mu tube such as an EF183 at very low voltages.
The heater and plate can be supplied with 3.7V only and a few Megs resistor is needed between 3.7+ and control grid to free electrons and have an anode (plate) current of >100 micro amperes.
This can make a nice portable single battery electron tube pre pre amplifier. Pleiades filters can be used as input and output transformers. It's a beauty to "hear" the absence of noise from battery clean dc supplies.
Could this be used to detect a most distant object in universe by being the front end of a radio telescope helping to unveil borders of the past?
Georg Neumann used lower than specified heater voltage and small plate voltage on the VF14 tube on the legendary U47 Telefunken Neumann microphone and changed our planet musically.
At 0Hz the Pleiades Filter acts as a short circuit
This damps the microphone membrane and dissipates pop noise without needing a pop screen.
It should be great for live vocals with dynamic mics protecting the first stage of the mixing console from the low frequency crowd PA and stage noise.
Great with ribbon microphones at any distance.

Pleiades Microphone Filters
It would be great to have a wirewound Pleiades nanoperm toroidal low cut mic filter that uses same technology as variable wirewound resistor potentiometers.
This may act simillarly to a focusing lens for any microphone singer-actor distance.
The Pleiades filter sounds so natural possibly because its gentle 6dB per octave attenuation inversly matches the unwanted proximity bass boost effect giving an overall flat response.
Can a variable multiturn wire wound Pleiades filter be made?

Do Songs Have a DNA Code?
Songs must have a compatible DNA just like humans.
When such songs are mixed (married together) an intersting mix is born.

Some Songs Having 1 Black Note Only
Every musical piece has its key signature.
It is the key that let us enter into its musical mood atmosphere.
The Key is the set of the 7 notes chosen by the composer out of the 11
that exist in western culture. (all white and black keys are 11)
The Eminor key or scale contains only one black key (F#).
It defines some of the best chords on our planet.
(Eminor, Bminor, Cmajor7, Aminor7, Dmajor, Gmajor, F#)

The game of the distance between bass and other notes simultaneously sounding.
το παιχνιδι της αποστασης μεταξυ μπασου και αλλων νοτών που ακούγονται ταυτόχρονα.
Default are intervals of 3, 5, 8.
το κοινοτυπο ειναι μονο διαστηματα 3, 5, 8
Magic begins when distances of 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th are introduced.
ολα γινονται μαγικα με διαστηματα 4, 6, 7, 9
There may be a correspondence to chacras as for example a musical interval of 4 gives a sensation of love.
How this game works is explained by BACH himself on the Art of Music.
Examples:
on 4:
Ordinary Day NINA GORDON
on 7:
Julia PAVLOV's DOG
Careless Whispers GEORGE MICHAEL
Old and Wise ALLAN PARSONS
on 9:
Close to you THE CARPENTERS
Just Hold Me MARIA MENA
on 6, 7, 9 etc:
Qui Tollis from Mass in B minor J.S. BACH
Pedal Bass
σταθερο μπασο
Bass is rock steady at times and everything else moving, generalizing a melody can be steady and all other parts moving relatively.
Tο μπασο σταθερο και αλλαζουν τα υπολοιπα. Γενικευμένα μπορεί να είναι η μελωδία σταθερή και όλα τα αλλα μέρη να κινούνται σχετικά

Pleiades High Pass Microphone Impedance Matching Transformer
Deep low cut extremely high pass filter
Free passive amplification
Few turns on a high permeability index toroidal tape wound core such as Magnetec's nanoperm M-073
For dynamic, ribbon, condenser microphones at mouth diaphragm distance<1in
Compensates with makeup gain for the proximity effect, voice effort eq, Fletcher Munson curves
Matches the 200 ohms output impedance of mics to the 2000 ohms input impedance of modern preamplifiers
Maximum transfer of energy (no mismatch reflections)
For crystal clear studio quality sound production
Uses Nanoperm's 80,000 times greater than air magnetic permeability
Acts like an electron microscope to magnify and reveal the subtlest detail of the human voice
Extremely low noise
Passes phantom power
Electromagnetically dissipates low frequencies, pop noise, damps mic membrane protecting ribbon mics
Useful for picking up the direct sound only and discriminate against ambient noise, reverberation
