Making up an Auratone type monitor speaker

At your risk.

Today various full range speakers were tried on various boxes.

They all sounded pretty horrible but great on some of the best sounding songs on the planet.

For example:

This girl's in love - Warwick

The girl from Ipanema - Gilberto

Sweet harmony - Beloved

Moi Lolita - Alizee

The Power of Love - FGTH

When I fall in Love - Nat King Cole

Initially an 8in full range was used on open back. It proved too dull.

Then a smaller diameter Zeis Ikon speaker was used on its film projection cubicle baffle 2ftx2ft ?. It sounds great. Amazing treble. Nice deep bass.

Then a 5in Staren made in Taiwan speaker was mounted on a cartoon box 8x8x6 in(^3).

The idea is that the relative thin cartoon will absorb reverberation of low frequencies inside the box.

Also 1-2 in thick cotton wool was inserted.

And then betumin roofing felt was inserted to desipate mid and bass revebaration inside the crapy little box. Away from surfaces after the cotton quilt.

The whole thing sounded pretty horrible but great on greatly produced songs. Hmm...

It was connected directly to iPad's headphone jack and sounded somewhat loud too.
