Why should one communicate with machines when one can communicate with humans?

Creating an almost robotic sound with a Yamaha PSS-480 and an AM radio

At your risk.

This was found today by chance or curiosity by placing a small AM radio close to PSS-480 in operation.

A suitable position is found where radio emits demodulated noise. Then by manually adjusting the tuning dial, radio sounds a bit like a robot changing speech formant.

A PSS-480 patch

No idea if this a preset or a user programmed. It sounds soothing between a keyboard guitar or piano.

Probing or troubleshooting a keyboard or other digital electronic instrument with a portable AM radio

At your risk.

It has just been tried on 2 Yamaha PSS-480, (one of them only operating).

While approaching AM small radio to various places of non working unit, noise is polite.

On the working unit demodulate noise is much less polite or many orders of magnitude louder.

Data for a self destructing voice patch for Yamaha PSS-480

At your risk.

The recapped (some of the best capacitors on the planet had been used) PSS-480 does not operate any more. Only some times.

The one just coming from an eBay seller does operate.

So here is a new patch.

The simple idea coming from previous DX7 Air Voice 3 patch (see previous post) is that by full feedback on modulating operator and full level of modulation to modulated operator makes modulated operator or carrier go crazy and emmiting FM white noise.

Then attack settings make sure the noise comes after a while so it all sounds like a polite sinewave morphed to noise while it sings.

Data for the self destructing voice patch is:

It's quite funny. While playing you have to lift your hand quickly enough before destruction takes place.

4 chords from DX7 AIR VOICE 3

These are just 4 chords inspired from edited VOICE 3 which has air added, see previous posts.

A good fullrange speaker sounds like a laser beam from drive unit to listener

This is the impression the Pleiades Vicky linoleum triagular pyramid speaker with a Tesla 5in drive unit gives.

This seems the reason why a microphone in front of it at 2 meters picks a great clean intelligible signal of natural frequency balance and great transient response.
