How can 8mA sound so loud, nice?

Listening to the Motown classic Endless Love with just one 2N3053 bipolar transistor, it's 8mA collector current running through the voice coil.

What an amazing sound! It fills a room with beauty at the whole frequency spectrum.

Signal path, setup:

(Endless Love - Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, from CD) - Sony portable CD player with line out bridged to mono - Pleiades 2N3053 - Philips AD5046N - a half tiled kitchen the size of a small echo chamber

The sounds from just 1 speaker passes on or diffuses brilliantly to the other rooms too. It is also a great antidote for general low frequency building noise from machinery.

The Philips AD5046N is a brilliant, amazing speaker. With its 800Ω input impedance, full frequency range, high efficiency it is doing the most of just 8mA in class A. Class A means electrons are flowing all the time.

Pleiades concepts of schematics are open source.
