Why ohmeters do not show 0 ohms?

They should do.

On digital multimeters if the ohm scale is accidentally used for measuring voltage it may be bad news.

One may then short circuit the 2 leads while measuring resistance and may read even higher than 1-2 Ω instead of 0Ω.

The good news is that this may be because of not clean test lead contacts.

A great way to clean the female multimeter sockets may be using cotton ear buds soacked in methylated spirit. Once the dirt is removed a 0 Ω reading may be possible.

It has been tried succefuly on the YFE YF-3200 digital multimeter.
