This post is wrong. Please disregard as the Unidyne III had been accidentally connected out of phase. So listening to it live through headphones accounted for the confused sound. It sounds even better that it was thought it would.
(Two amazing microphones. They sound very different.
Both were connected to a Pleiades (130Ω,40mH) filter.
A proximity comoensation filter was not connected to Unidyne so it was used at about 8-12in.
The Unidyne sounded more aggressive somewhat dirty in an aggressive sense. Perhaps due to bass reverberation acoustics too.
The MD211 sounded clear, full with better defined midrange and treble,
The Pleiades V6 setup was used. More investigation is needed.
See next post for complete setup and a 1.2V anode surprise,)
Later addition: after finding out the fault and changing phase it sounds very focused and impressive. See a nearby layer post on it being connected to 2 transformers in cascade and then to Sony TC-D5 mic in. A passive amplifier.
