How are Pleiades electronic component values selected?

By chance.

How can 14mH, 47mH, 470mH, 140mH, 140Ω, 1.4MΩ, 4.7MΩ, 1.4V, 4.7V, 7inch, 14in sound bad?

Much is homage to the Neumann U47 microphone and its VF14 electron tube.

On the quest of flat frequency response from producer's brain to listener's brain there are so many variables that some values have to be fixed. It may be impossible to operate unless some choices are restricted. Same as any art, music composing for example. Bach was saying that art comes from restricting rules. If anything goes one might be struggling in an ocean. Same with a sexual partner, friends, food. There must be criteria of restricting choices.

Same with components.

How are Pleiades components selected?

By dreams sometimes.

For example the idea of using a Nuvistor electron tube on the Pleiades V6 come about while half awake by a mosquito. So the dream memory was not lost.

Another dream was a pair of Beyer M55 HN looking white. One does not normally see on a dream the mics that are being expected from eBay.

Another dream was trying to connect a Sennheiser MD441 to the Pleiades V6 in a studio environment.

In fact many of the Pleiades concepts, ideas or schematics came while half awake half asleep, thanks to considerate people ensuring waking up dozens of times each night.
