For example substituting an ECC88 with PCC88.
The cathode temperature will be reduced. This can have beneficial noise effect (see previous posts) especially when the anode voltage is low.
By the way how would E88CC sound with battery powered Pleiades V6?
Although at some stage E88CC was tried at earlier Pleiades experiments, best results so far are with EF183, ECC82 and Nuvistor 7586.
With Pleiades bias:
The EF183 can operate at even less than 4V at anode.
The ECC82, 12AU7 at even less than 6V at the anode.
The Nuvistor 7586 at even less than 1.5V at the anode.
So far the EF183 has not been tried at around 1.2V at the anode.
