Attention; always use a fuse in series with even a low voltage supply source for fire hazard safety. Use all other safety precautions when working with any voltage.
Referring to Pleiades V6 schematic:

For example when the 7586 Nuvistor electron tube is used on the 9V at anode experiment (although it even operates at 1.3V at the anode or plate).
The 9V battery was connected with its negative terminal to the negative terminal of the heater.
But if the 9V battery is connected to the positive terminal of the heater the plate potential becomes 3.9V+9V=12.9V
This option should be useful for open grid (or grid connected through a very high pull up resistor from cathode or plate or other positive potential) front end amplifier experiments where more anode potential may be needed.
