It could be someone writing on a blog.
Someone replying on a different blog.
Perhaps a bit like older days when one with an FM transmitter could communicate with someone else with an FM transmeter. Listening to the radio, to the FM radio amateurs exchanging knowledge. A bit like forums.
They were talking screen voltages, the baby, etc. The baby was a 1KW transmitting electron tube, about the size of a baby. Younger ones could listen to the radio and try to understand or learn.
One day one of them lost modulation. He was tapping to the chassis as a singaling method while someone else was scanning the FM band in search of FM communication.
"Is the friend at 100.4MHz listening?"
The other guy would tap the chassis as an indication of being there, being alive.
It was Athens at the 80's.
Military quality components could be found by surplus military Hellenic or military US surplus stock from air bases.
There was Vassilis, he had an surplus electronics shop just under Akropolis. Even a VF14 electron tube could be found, see relevant post.
Radio amateurs were playing great music too.
