Everything is referenced to bass and most chord ingredients are derived from the 1 3 5 7 9 11 relation

In fact one can point with shut eyes at any point on a score be it

Prelude in C minor - Chopin


A symphony


Etc


And immediatly it can be seen that if bass at that particular bar is for example E,


then the other instumnts are most likely playing any of the 3 5 7 9 11 13 notes relative to bass or above it.


Eg on Hey You a Pink Floyd


Bass is E and Harmony is G B F#


All needed is adding the right sharps or flats according to the key used in composing the particular music specimen


Perhaps this post is stating the obvious...
