This should not work.
The idea is having 2 half primaries wound on a toroid shape. They are connected in series through a resistance or variable resistance.
A resistor can thus be part of the winding.
But it will possibly not work as resistance is not uniformly distributed on coil. Resistance wire should possibly be used.
