Revisiting Ortheus audio, distributors of ortofon in Hellas. they are very helpful. I bought the 100 year aniversarry Ortofon book, very interesting.

In fact if I undersatnd well the OM, concorde cartridges are neither moving coil nor moving magnet. They are VMS, variable magnetic shunt. A special case of moving iron. The ring? magnet and coils are inside the cartridge. The stylus cantilever is very low mass and its movement changes the magnetic flux in the magnetic circuit. Possibly something like the electric guitar string!

I guess this is why the Dual CS 501 so much imressed me. Also why the Stanton 680 moving iron cartridges inmpress me too.

There is something amazing to the delail and warmth of these.

So naturally I am thinking of perhaps using an Ortofon OM cartridge on a battery powered DUAL CS 511.
