Instead of the (R,L) Pleiades filters. (inductor in series with resistor and total in parallel with microphone output) (R,C) filters can be used.
These are capacitor in parallel with resistor and the total in series, that is between microphone and preamplifier. The R can be variable as on the (R,L) filters. Similarly different capacitors or inductors can be switchable.
An (R,C) microphone filter for correcting ribbon microphone bass heaviness at smaller distance than 2-3 ft can be seen on the so nice BBC book, High Quality Sound Production and Reproduction, - H. Burrell Haden, page 63.
