At your risk.
Listen for example to how bass goes in one note steps from G to F sharp to E.
As explained at the Bach' s manual (appendix of Bach's biography - Spitta) the bass harmony code is F6, E6, so we have bass F sharp with D at a higher part, bass E with C at a higher part.
Why F sharp?
It is easy, the first bass on the song is G. So the song is written in G major key. The G major key has F sharp.
You can also listen to the prepared 9th at 1:00. The bass becomes A while melody of strings rises to a high B. Bach also say that the 3rd should be added, that is C. Then as the harmony is bass A with E G C (Am7), bass becomes D and high parts stay the same. So beautiful.
