At the end melody goes like:

So great sounding intervals of major 9th are created.
Ie C bass with D, G bass with A.


As we can read on Bach's composing manual the 9th note (A) above bass (G) is prepared (by anticipating repetition) and then the 3rd (bB) above bass (G) is added. [Bach, Niedt]


There is also a great sounding modulation from the key of D minor to C minor at chorus).
