When crusty and brown baked it gives this pancake quality to omelette. Or in audio engineering terminology that edgy and smooth midrange morning presence effect.

Pleiades V5 pre preamplifier with Sennheiser MD 441U 3 MD441

Dreams do come true.


The MD441 is understandably one if not the best dynamic microphone on the planet.


But how much are dynamic (moving coil) microphones underestimated...


Once the bass, mid bass mud from proximity effect is removed by a parallel inductor like the Pleiades filter...


one is left with the best mid range and treble mankind could possibly get.


Of course the high frequency boost is not needed as one now has as much treble can be dreamed of and of the best quality as moving coil microphones are tuned to mid range rather than condensers which are tuned at a very high frequency and ribbons at a a very low frequency.


So is this how this amazing Tell me Lies - Fleetwood Mac timbre is produced?

The difference between various models of Sennheiser MD441 MD 441

What an extremely beautiful microphone is this.


MD 441 N
Roll-off filter and brilliance switch

As from manufacturer code DC (March 1986) the MD441 is equipped with a new system, which enables the exchange of the dynamic module without requiring the exchange of the filter system at the same time.


They can be separated by unscrewing threaded pins.


The brilliance circuit is inside the capsule assembly. So the capsule has 4 wires out.


The brilliance switch has 4 in 2 out.


What is inside the capsule EQ circuitry? , a capacitor in parallel with a resistor perhaps? Or is it a similar passive circuit that removes an already existing peak?. Actually after listening (see newer euroelectron entry), it seems the filter removes mid bass and bass frequency content by the stated 5dB amount.


The bass roll off filter is at the end of the mic. Does it consist of a capacitor in parallel with various switched resistors?


Or is it an inductor Pleiades filter?


It will be nice to try the 441 U3 with various Pleiades (inline XLR) filter cut off frequencies. The added advantage of the inductor coil would be to further damp low frequency pop and wind noise.


Abbey road studios have a few MD441 U3 as seen in their microphone list. The U3 may be bass heavy due to the proximity effect, Fletcher-Munson curves, voice effort curves. A Pleiades filter may prove useful for flat frequency responce from artist's brain to listener's brain.

Pleiades Filters - euroelectron

IPowered microphone

It may be a useful term for a microphone powered directly by the iPhone iPad mic- headphone socket.

For example a microphone with a Pleiades pre preamplifier and input transformer inside it

Colors for Pleiades Filters

It would be nice to have Pleiades microphone bass proximity compensating filters with colors.


One for each cutoff frequency.


From red to violet, as the rainbow colors from low to high e/m frequency.


The idea came from Janet's Furman use of green color and red knobs on the PQ-3 parametric EQ preamplifier.


There is an interesting story by Shelly Yakus while producing Dire Straits on a YouTube interview. They could not get the sound they wanted on Mark Knopfler's guitar. The solution was to feed this preamplifier first and then the guitar amplifier. Otherwise the peaks would overload the guitar amp as Shelly Yakus explains.

Pleiades Phantom Powered inline Microphone Booster Low Noise Pre Preamplifier Schematic, Photos and Specifications

Pleiades Phantom Microphone inline Booster pre preamplifier.


Designed while waiting for the metro and listening to Tell me Lies - Fleetwood Mac.


This should act as a microscope getting the subtlest nuances of voice.


The Pleiades input transformer passively steps up the microphone signal and then the high impedance feeds the high input impedance gate of a low noise JFET as on condenser circuits.


So the JFET receives an already highly magnified signal with the least possible noise on our planet.


Proximity bass compensation can be adjusted by reducing the number of turns in the primary winding of the input transformer.


All components of the circuit fit inside Neutrik Modules..


The in line booster pre preamplifier passes phantom to it's input.


A switch is added to switch off phantom power at the input when a ribbon mic is connected.

Architect's Specifications:


The Pleiades Phantom Microphone in line Booster pre preamplifier:


1. Shall be contained inside an XLR module adapter of the highest quality,  Neutrik or equivalent.


2. Shall provide enough gain boost while keeping noise the lowest possible comparable or less than the best condenser mics while giving an output comparable or higher.


3. Shall have transformer balanced input for highest common mode noise rejection and being able to pass phantom power.


4. The input transformer shall be made of state of the art Magnetec 073 nanocrystalinne core or equivalent. The primary and secondary windings shall  be physically (geoimetricaly balanced).


5. The number of primary turns shall dictate the amount of bass cut for effective bass proximity effect compensation.


6. The step up ratio shall be made as large as possible to extract maximum information from the microphone with the least possible noise before driving the high input impedance of a quietest JFET stage.


7. The JFET stage shall contain the least possible components for extremely natural amplification and high integrity.


8. The JFET stage shall be single ended or long tailed pair etc., class A (electrons flowing all the time) having therefore extreme linearity at small signals and objective compression with subjective intact dynamics at high levels due to ear-brain analogous gentle overload characteristics. It shall therefore provide instantaneous peak limiting.


9. Power shall be supplied from a phantom source derived from the center tap of the secondary of the output transformer.


10. The output transformer made in a similar way to the input transformer, shall be contained inside the XLR adapter, shall step down the output impedance of the JFET and provide balanced output and isolation to feed ordinary mic input stages.

Music is like making Love

2 voices (parts) do much better when one is stationary and the other moves (pedal bass in a low or high part).


If both move in the same direction it can be trivial.


If they move in opposite directions much better.

How to reform old vintage electrolytic capacitors

We act at our own risk.


A good trick that helps protecting ourselves when working with high voltages is to have one hand always in the bottom pocket.


We connect the capacitor to (obviously) less than rated voltage through a 1 Megohm resistor and wait for hours or days.

The vocals of Tell me Lies - Fleetwood Mac, Τι τραγουδάνε τα φωνητικά στο Tell me Lies - Fleetwood Mac

Το Pedal Bass γινεται και στη μελωδία όπως έχει δείξει ο Μιμης Πλέσσας.


Για παράδειγμα στο chorus του Tell me Lies - Fleetwood Mac τα απίστευτα φωνητικά γίνονται με Pedal Bass. Μπορεί να παρατηρηθεί αν ακούσουμε το σήμα που προκύπτει αν αφαιρέσουμε το right chanel από το left (όπως στο karaoke).


Οι άλλες φωνές εκτός από την κυρια κρατάνε σταθερή νότα (Ισοκράτης). Το ίδιο μπορούμε να παρατηρήσουμε στο Chiquitita - Abba, προς στο τέλος του κομματιού.


If one listens to Tell me Lies - Fleetwood Mac by subtracting the right chanel to the left (i.e. in karaoke mode)...


It can be clearly heard that the vocals are contineously singing the same note together with the main melody, i.e. pedal bass in an upper part.

Μαγική Σοκολάτα

Όχι φυσικά αυτή που ειναι γεμάτη πάμφθηνα φτηνιάρικα φυτικά λιπαρά.


Αλλα αυτή που δεν έχει καθόλου λιπαρά.


Υπάρχει λοιπόν σοκολάτα 100% Gran Cacao από την ιταλική εταιρία Slitti. Πωλείται από το Le Chocolat στο Σύνταγμα.


Ειναι ακριβή (πάμφθηνη για αυτό που ειναι), πολύ πικρή, με πανέμορφη γεύση.


Και ζεις, όχι μόνο αυτό αλλα κάνει και πολύ καλό σαν ένα από τα καλύτερα αντιοξειδωτικά; στον πλανήτη.

Μαγικοί λουκουμάδες

Δεν ειναι λουκουμάδες άλλο οτι πιο κοντινό και υγιεινό.


Παίρνουμε παξιμάδι που δεν περιέχει λάδι όπως κρίθινα Φανουρακη.


Το βρέχουμε, προσθέτουμε σηςαμελαιο Κοςμιδη - Γαβρίλη. Προςθετουμε το καλύτερο μέλι που μπορούμε να βρούμε και στη συνέχεια κανέλα Κευλανης.

Μαγικο Γλυκό

Ισως το καλύτερο γλυκό ειναι αυτό που προέρχεται από την ίδια την φύση.

Πχ σταφίδες και βασιλικοί χουρμάδες φυσικής οριμανσης.

Πως να μην παχαινουμε

Αντί για ψωμί μπορούμε να χρησιμοποιήοθμε ντάκο, πχ παξιμάδια Φανουρακη 100% κριθαρένια.


Ο μηχανισμός λειτουργίας ειναι μάλλον οτι οι ίνες απορροφούν σαν σφουγγάρι τα λίπη και στη συνέχεια αφοδεύονται. Η άγρια επιφάνεια του κριθαρενιου παξιμαδιού λειτουργεί στο έντερο σαν κλιςμα καθαρίζοντας το.


Παξιμάδια κρητικά Φανουρακη μπορούμε να βρούμε στο Κλασικό, Αταλιας 2, Νέα Σμύρνη.

Πως να σταματήσουμε αβίαστα το κάπνισμα η οποιαδήποτε μορφή εξάρτησης

Λειτουργούμε με δίκη μας ευθύνη. Ειδικά σε περίπτωση ναρκωτικών, αντικαταθλιπτικών κτλ, ζητούμε την παρακολούθηση ψυχοθεραπευτή.


Αν για παράδειγμα καπνίζουμε Α τσιγάρα την ημέρα...


Διαλέγουμε έναν αριθμό λίγο μικρότερο του 1 και με αυτόν βρίσκουμε με πολλαπλασιασμό την δόση της επόμενης μέρας.


Παράδειγμα.


Έστω οτι καπνίζουμε 20 τσιγάρα την ημέρα.


Έστω οτι ο αριθμός που διαλέξαμε ειναι 0.99.


Βρίσκουμε τις δοςεις ως εξης.


1η μέρα 20 τσιγάρα.


2η μέρα 20 x 0.99 = 19.8 τσιγάρα


3η μέρα 20 x 0.99 x 0.99 = 19.6 τσιγάρα


Και τα λοιπά ...


Ο αριθμός 0.99 μας οδηγεί σε όλη την δοσολογία μέχρι η δοςη να γίνει 0 χωρίς ίσως να καταλάβουμε τίποτα. Ο συγκεκριμένος αριθμός δίνει χρόνο οπου η δοση έγινε μισή, 69 ημερών .
Σε 69 ημέρες η δοση θα ειναι 10 τσιγάρα και σε άλλες 69, 5 τσιγάρα την ημέρα κτλ.


Αν θελουμε άλλο χρόνο ημησιας δόσης που μας ταιριάζει διαλέγουμε άλλο αριθμό μικρότερο του 1!





Περιληψη: Η δόση της επομενης μέρας από την προηγούμενη προκύπτει πολλαπλασιάζοντας παντα με τον ίδιο αριθμό μικρότερο του 1.
