Amazing sound.
Sowter 9217g half ssecondary winding was used as Pleiades (R,L) filter. Metal core had been removed. Mic was connected to pins 7,8 of the signal transformer's octal base while at the same time mic was connected to Sony TC-D5 pro transformer mic XLR input.
The secondary of the Sotwer transformer with lamination core removed exhibits 315ω,37mH.
Signal path:
Male voice singing (Mess - Ben Fold Five) at possibly lower key - Fostex M88RP 600Ω at 12 in - Pleiades(315Ω,37mH) from Sowter secondary as indicated - Sony TC-D5 Pro - Sennheiser HD 580 - Singer's ears-brain
Audio Technica AT802
RadioShack 33-3039
Revox M3500 600Ω Νr 016091
Paso M980 at 14in
also sounded great with this setup.
Audio Technica sounded less loud as it is 500Ω and more attenuated by 315Ω resitor than RadioShack which is 220Ω. RadioShack sounded more aggressive but excellent too.
