In November 1948 Norman was president and chief engineer of Pickering & Co., and at that time Walter O. Stanton joined the corporation as vice president and he was placed in charge of sales. Norman served as president and as chairman of the board of directors of Pickering & Co. until October 13, 1950, when he resigned those offices and took a brief leave of absence due to ill health.
