A good moving coil microphone sounds better than a good condenser. Especially if the pre pre amplifier is as simple and good as the amplifier inside the Neumann U47. See Pleiades V6. A great advantage of moving coil microphones is that the diaphragm resonant frequency is not in the high frequency audio band (Neumann reference).

Input (in parallel) inductance is much more important than input impedance as it dictates (adjusts) the low frequency cutoff. [Pleiades filters,  inductance of primary of input transformer].Stated more correctly the importance is on how the input impedance varies with respect to frequency. For example if a microphone sounds bass heavy to our brain the cutoff frequency is moved up by 1 octave if the input inductance is halved. Other example, A mic of x times less output impedance needs a terminating input transformer inductance of  x times less than the transformer used on the higher Z mic.To understand why the reactance in ohms of an inductance in mH changes with frequency an mechanical analog is as follows. A mass held by our hands is inductance. Our hands moving from left to right left in a loop is the sinewave voltage generator. The velocity of the mass is the current of electrons through the inducatnce. The higher the frequency the more the mass reacts. So inductors at high frequencies have a high impedance therefore they do not load a microphone.[Olson and also Introduction to System Dynamics].
Other example, a ribbon mic must be connected to a preamp input transformer of low primary winding inductance (relatively few turns) if the mic is to be used at small distance. Reasons are the proximity effect, Fletcher-Manson brain perception curves, Voice effort curves. All these may increase frequencies below 1KHz. The noise of electron tubes is a myth. They are possibly the quietest electron devices on the planet. It is the external components that affect noise and bandwidth. Input, output, interstage, output  transformers are best friends. They are a perfect analog magnetic recorder and reproducer at the speed of light.
