Linoleum Pleiades Auratone 5C type monitoring speakers with various amplifiers

Tests with one loudspeaker box made of linoleum instead of wood. Inside is the beautiful sounding and looking Tesla TVM ARX-130-20/4 5in drive unit with its huge, heavy magnet. Linoleum almost supports this heavy weight. Due to weight there is just a few degree angle displacement of front panel towards listener if speaker is placed on a table.

The electron tube amplifiers tried were not in top shape possibly due to unreformed capacitors from lack of resent use. Before use they were reformed a bit, see older posts.

With the Heathkit AA-32 push pull electron tube amplofier, big sound but amplifier distorted at low and large signal levels. Big sound and bass.

With the Telefunken S.81 (S.81) single ended electron tube amplifier in class A.
Nice sound. Some distortion too.

With the Pleiades 2N3055 one transistor amplifoer in class A.
Very clear, surprisingly loud although it is operated at much less power than previous amps. power sould be much less than 1 watt. But tests were done in a smaller reverberant room. Tests need to be repeated all in the same room.

Music tests were done with the CD album Ray of Light - Madonna.

Then the linoleum Pleiades speaker was connected directly to Tascam porta07 to headphones out in same reverb room.

Sound surprisingly loud and of great quality. Program material was a Pleiades recording done with various mics, male voice singing, The Power of Love - FGTH.

The vocal sound differece between using and not using the Pleiades (130Ω,40mH) gentle slope high pass filter was very apparent. With filter voice sounds like a polished diamond. Without it the sound is like cheap recording with confused sound. Linoleum Pleiades Auratone type speaker reveal the difference easily. The HD580 headphones reveal the difference as bass heaviness.

Best sound:

Fostex M88RP - Pleiades 130Ω,40mH - German 1:10 step up transformer - Tascam 07 recording and later reproducing

Also Lustraphone VR64 hi Z with Pleiades filter 1H in shunt. With particular mic and filter mid vibration cannot be felt while touching the linoleum speaker box top side. Nice bright sound but HF interference noise possibly due to experimental connection with short crocodile clip cables.

How would Uher 4200 report sound with a Pleiades filter between mic and it?
