If not you may end up using negative feedback and spend a fortune to figure out what is wrong.
(Having said this the SRPP stage (local negative feedback) mentioned on previous RIAA preamp post sounded nice and big, but the battery DC90 version will use an output transformer in an ordinary anode follower stage)
