Instantaneous Signal Limiting


The best way to limit an audio signal is possibly pre emphasis (increasing treble, low cut), then clipping, and then (decreasing treble, high cut).


When a clipped signal is high cut, the flat part will be rounded as harmonics are reduced. Pre emphasis ensures a flat frequency response..


This is what is done on vinyl records, tape recording, radio broadcasting processing as taught by Orban.
