Art and Restrictions


Bach was saying that art needs restrictions.


We can see it everywhere. For example film directior Lars Von Trier adopted for some of his films the Dogme 95. One of the restrictions of the Dogme 95 was that the cameras are to be held not by tripods but by humans.


Music producer Brian Eno would for example say that only the instruments in the left of the room are to be used etc.
