For example:
The left hand plays B flat while the right hand A D F. The D is kept to become the major 7th of the next chord:
The left hand plays E flat while the right hand plays B flat D G. The D is the major 7h (distance from bass) and the G (3rd from bass) is added.
The chain goes on similarly for the following bass notes.
A similar idea of preparing sevenths and adding the 3rds can be listened to or played on Confutatis - Motzart on the women choir sections.
