Can cats test our food before we eat it?

If memory is correct the cat did not eat sliced bread? Could it detect the vegetable fat and palm oil which have a reputation of clogging arteries?

When good quality bread made with just white or whole grain flour, yeast, water, salt was given the cat was eating like crazy.

When this bread was mixed with dubious quality olive oil, the cat refused to eat. It made miou, miou, miou sounds that could translate as what is this? Give us something to eat.

When bread was mixed with uncertain quality sesame oil, the same. Recently it ate with some hesitation when the pieces were very well human mouth mixed and small.

It eats with almost no hesitation good quality virgin olive oil mixed with good quality bread.

Once upon a time a cat was eating like crazy just uncooked white flour mixed with water.

Do they know?
