On using linoleum as a speaker baffle

A 5in fullrange drive unit, Tesla TVM ARX-130-20/4 was used directly connected to iPad mini headphone output on one output channel.

Music was from YouTube.
Who Wants to live Forever - Queen
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
The Power of Love - Frankie Goes to Hollywood

The speaker without a baffle sounds like an ant. Just HF content.

Initially a linoleum baffle of about 12in x 14in was used. Mid content became apparent.

Then about 30in x 40in linoleum baffle was used. Speaker was again supported by hand to the baffle hole. 2 persons where doing the experiment. It was very impressive how bass sound became apparent too. Sound was best for some reason when linoleum panel was parallel to a table at a distance greater than say 15in. This suggests a very nice sound when such baffle can be safely hanged from the ceiling and at a distance form a wall.

A similar dimention cardboard panel was used for baffle. Bass was more impressive. This may be psychoacoustic as hands holding the cardboard could feel its vibration at bass. Cardboard sounded louder. Colored? Perhaps a bit more confused.

Linoleum sounded clear.

When linoleum was made to a cylinder the sound became confused at bass.

Is baffle drive unit mounting the best way for natural sound on the planet?
