The Girl's in Love with You - Bacharach, David - Warwick

This Girl's in Love with You - Dionne Warwick's recording:

It makes you feel so glad you are human and that you are alive.

Phil Ramonne says this is pop songwriting and arranging at its very best.

It is nice to hear the prepared D major 7th (bass D, main melody C#, other instrument(s) playing F# etc).

The main chord progression is like Gymnopedie No. 1 - Eric Satie, but the other way round:

An Amazing recording.

It must have been recorded at the studio CBS was using before A&R moved in.

If the book is read correctly when A&R started at a previous space they had fine European microphones for each instrument. The console made up by themselves from 2 broadcasting consoles. Analogue recorders were Ampex 2 or 3 track. So multi miking direct to stereo? There were Altec mixers to submix creating more inputs for example for recording strings. The floor was untreated concrete with cracks and dust etc playing its role.

EMT plates for amazing reverb tuned so that that the tension on all springs was uniform like the bolts in car tyres.
