One way to protect personal data is not upload it (by Alexandre). For example on a social media website.
Another way is having everything in light, under the sun, nothing to hide etc (by Lambros). For example the best way to protect an idea may be publishing it freely.
Another way may be uploading irrelevant information.
For example in search for a Beyer mic at low bid you accidentally or non accidentally found a Bayer microphone which does not exist. It exists but it had be written wrong. So you are perhaps the first and only one to see it.
But because your previous search was on Senheiser uups Sennheiser MD211 the auction bots (robots) take notice and recommend your unique find to those who also searched for MD211. Even if you delete cookies every time the bots are clever and know you. And they might know you are a good discoverer. So how about changing all that and making yourself appear a complete fool to the clever bots.
So one way to play with the bots may be to create unusual interests. For example a keen interest in searching in need of being a collector of automobile oil filters, gear boxes, trains, Bayer aspirin boxes, domestic animal jewelry etc.
While getting warmed up with searching for oil filters you can type what you really want. Watching the item page details may be tricky too.
Anyway. Perhaps it does not really matter how cheap or how expensive something is bought or if it is bought at all. Nothing is lost.
And the sun sends a new amount of energy everyday on earth.
