Would someone be interested to bid on a 1/4in master tape?
No matter what the recorded content is.
It may be an ambient sound, a singing voice, a future to be successful or failed song. What does it matter?
Provided it is recorded in such a way that it sounds correct to listener's brain. See previous posts. In summary the right mic to the right position, the corect slope low cut passive filter, a one stage mic booster front end amplifier if needed and a world class reel to reel recorder such as Uher 4200 report. Or Ferrograph, Nagra, Sony, Tandberg, Studer, Revox, Tascam or whatever one thinks is best for the application.
Another hint may be avoiding recording many early sound reflection (at all frequencies not just HF or mid).
Another hint may be the musician(s) play softly, relaxed (not harsh, or loud) at controlled dynamics (the musician compressing the ppp-FFF dynamic range) so that the end result is big or loud.
Would the highest bid price be higher or lower than that of an ordinary used tape reel of the same maker, model?
Perhaps there is nothing that can beat the reproduction quality of an analog master tape.
An analog master tape can transport you to a different time place. And can make its digital transfer sound good and quite real.
Is it the only way of teletransportation?
It makes you feel even more joyful or proud of being a living being.
