Canelina the cat was sitting on the calm beach.
She could see on her right hand side the tranquil water waves peaking at the sand.
As the water was retracting the moisture would retract much slower. Sand changes shades.
So the effect was like a spectrum analyzer slowly decaying.
Or it could mean a room reverberation slowing decaying.
And she could imagine the coast axis as the frequency axis.
New waves coming would create a different frequency spectrum shape. Sometimes the mid frequencies would be prominent. Sometimes the high frequencies or the low, bass ones.
Every new wave would create a new spectrum patern.
A common characteristic was as pulsating change in amplitude of each frequency band.
Every new wave would exceed the already decaying traces.
But since the traces move down by gravity slower, the original wave at times would be above them or below them in amplitude. Would masking alow them to be heard? Do composers take into account that some sounds may be deliberately masked at times?
How would the whole symphony sound like?
One can Fourier transform a Beethoven symphony and a similar visual paterm may be created. Yet it is almost meaningless to the eye.
Yet the ear...
