Matti Otala investigated the side effects of negative feedback on audio amplifiers.
In brief words a high feedback amplifier needs a high open loop gain.
If the bandwidth of the open loop amplifier is not high enough and a transient signal form music comes in, the amplifier will momentarily clip until negative feedback comes from the output to input to reduce open loop gain. It will take time for the amp to recover. And poor listener's ears will hear shrill treble, unsweet violins etc.
Intermodulation distortion may be 100 per cent for a brief period.
Mati Otala called this objectionable form of distortion Transient Intermodulatiin Distortion.
