Reducing hiss in electric bass guitar

Now that the electronics of the Yamaha RAX200 have been bypassed, (the pickup connected directly) to the Pleiades V5 pre preamplifier, sound is excellent and high frequency detail too.

This brought to attention hiss. The V5 is very quiet before connecting anything. The bass cable being connected still quiet. Once the bass is connected there is noticeable hiss.

This indicates RF noise that is demodulates by the preamplifier.. There are excellent comments and articles in the web about rf shielding of electric guitars using conductive paint or copper tape with conductive adhesive. The internal unshielded wires may be shielded too.
