Connecting input and output transformers in octal sockets so that an output transformer can be used as input transformer and vice versa

One way of doing this is always connecting the low inductance winding to pins 1,3 for example and the high inductance (or high turns) winding to pins 6,8 of octal sockets.

The output transformer octal base will have to be wired so that the primary is the many turns winding.

So any transformer can be tried as input or output on such prepreamps as Pleiades V6 for example and it should be fun.

The Pleiades V6 prepreamp passes a few dozens of micro amps through the output transformer primary which may make matters difficult or interesting as there is a DC bias to the trasformer helping it to lead to saturation more easily. It reminds magnetic recording terminology. It should be fun observing how the voice or music signal may be peak limited.
