A method a quickly creating a triangular pyramid linoleum fullrange minitoring speaker

At your risk. Take all safety precautions.


1 linoleum sheet is put on top of a wipe cleaned surface.


2 underneath linoleum can be placed another layer of a material for the protection of original working surface area.


3 An equilateral triagle is made on a piece of cardboard with the aid of a compass. Side can be for example 30cm for a 5in drive unit. This will be used as the master guide for making the net of the tetrahedron, see Wikipedia tetrahedron, net. So small holes are pierced with a small + screwdriver at the crests of the equilateral triagle.


4 By using the master cardboard and screwdriver 3 corresponding marks are made on linoleum (protect your working surface area while doing this). The tiny holes or rather wells are marked with a marker if needed.


5 Using 2 of the marked holes on linoleum and the master cardboard, a forth hole is created or rather marked or defined, then a fifth etc until the full tetrahedron net is defined.


6 by using a large ruler and marker the net is drawn.


7 3 ears are also drawn which will be useful for structural support and as hot gluing areas. One of the triangles will have no ears. This can be the closing side of the speaker. So the base will have 2 ears. And the other side will have 1.


8 Pleiades logo and serial number (date time code) can be writen on one side by a marker and then passed many times or engraved by a sharp pointer or pen with such sharp pointer.


9 The speaker hole can then be cut engraving for example many times in a circular motion with a strong reliable compass divider.


10 The net shape is cut (attention to safety) for example with an exacto and a ruler and the inner side of triangles on the net just engraved at a suitable depth paying attention not to cut the juta backing which adds structural reinforcement when sides are bent to form the triangular pyramid.


11 Speaker cable is soldered to fullrange drive unit.


12. Drive unit is mounted on front side of linoleum tetrahedron by good quality Allen bolts, washers, star washers and nuts.


13 Tetrahedron is placed to shape and ears glued carefully with thermal glue. Undo of thermal glueing is easy with a few drops of methylated spirit .

14 connecting to amplifier paying attention to not using high sound presure levels. Music is enjoyed.
