The EF183 triode connected can drive a loudspeaker at low volume even at 12V anode potential. See a previous euroelectron post. This is done by compensating for the negative internal grid bias (from the electron cloud) by an external 1MΩ resistor from anode to grid. Cathode is grounded.
A much louder power amplifier could be made with normal high tension and using a high Megohm resistor from grid to cathode and cathode grounded. It should sound fantastic using only one electron tube, one resistor, one coupling capacitor, one output transformer per channel.
