Wow.
The Uher 4200 report is so nice and accurate it teaches how to record.
Germans are top in this great technology.
Setup, signal path:
live piano, voice - AKG MI-201-100 moving coil 830 ohm - Uher 4200 report (right channel only) - BASF per 368 - Uher 4200 playback - realistic disco mixer at mono - Sennheiser HD580
Male singing voice and acoustic piano were recorded with the above 1 hand held omni mic. On solo part the left hand holding the mic was simultaneously playing bass on the piano. See previous today's post on Doppler effect and other effects on moving mic by hand (riding waveform by hand).
Archive datetime number of recording is 18100311.
The Uher 4200 report was just quickly placed on top of the Pleyel upright piano. The mic pluged in on right channel. Rec level set at half or 12 o'clock and that's it.
The demo of Έλα στο Φως, (Come to the Light) was captured.
Distance of mic to mouth was about 2in. It must had been a bit more as the piano need some more volume.
Great sound on both piano or vocal. No wow and flutter problem. Just pure sound.
Some additional parts were recorded at greater modulation (rec level at 1:30 o' clock). Still the gat peaks of piano attack did not cause a problem. Perhaps less modulation just sounds more relaxed.
It is seriously thought whether a Pleiades mic booster amp may be needed at all. The sound is already there. But it may be tried as the 2DV4 Nuvistor is almost ready to be connected on the Pleiadss V6 circuit with just 1.3V powering both heater and anode.
