Interesting notes by Magnetics on the distributed air gap properties of powdered cores

https://www.mag-inc.com/Design/Design-Guides/Designing-with-Magnetic-Cores-at-High-Temperatures

Is there  soft saturation too?

(By the way how would simple iron sound like?)

What would be the best core for the Pleiades analog tape recording playback analog simulator using an interstage transformer to simulate tape saturation. Before it a recording amp. After it a playback amp. All with proper pre emphasis, de emphasis curves to round off instantaneously limited peaks. Increasing average level at the speed of light.

Also for the Pleiades V6 prepreamp with DC carrying output transformer would a ferrite core be more suitable avoiding DC saturation due to the distributed air gap?
