Checking electrolytic capacitors on circuit board


At your risk.
Take all safety precautions.
Any voltage or current can be dangerous.


Not sure it it works yet. It may be tried soon on a non working Yamaha PSS-480 FM keyboard.


Make sure the capacitor is not charged by measuring voltage across it first.


If voltage is near 0 then an ohmmeter might be safely connected to it (at your risk).


An obvious fault is a short circuit. Other obvious fault is a low resistance that does not rise but this also depends on what is connected to this capacitor.


Other test may be to read the voltage while power is carefully on.


But some times it may not be a good idea to supply power yet.
