Listening to the masked parts

For example on Fame where the lyrics say "I'm gonna learn how to lie" there is another unison part humming. (Later addition, it is not unison, it is second voice and it can be heard listening normally, it just had not been noticed.)

This is done by listening to karaoke or L-R or R-L. This method also lets one hear the reverb only and other delay effects etc as L-R makes the dry voice 0. Bass is gone too as it is usually equally intense on both channels. So one can hear things that would otherwise been masked by louder parts.

How is karaoke done? This is done by feeding the stereo signal to a transformer, R on one side of the primary, L on the other side of the primary and getting output from the secondary.

If a CD Walkman is used L out may be connected to ground of headphones, R out may be connected to the other terminal of headphones etc.

It can also be done by using a 4 pin male iPad headphone adaptor to 2 female and connecting it to a CD Walkman. Then connecting the headphones to one of the female sockets. The one used is the Valueline VLMP22100B0.20 mini 3.5mm male - 2 x 3.5mm female, Nedis B. V., PO Box 70509,5201 CL s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands.

L+R or R+L is the mono signal.
