We may use this to play or compose any musical composition.
Step 1: we find the bass
Step 2: we consider the numbers 1 3 5 7 9 11 13 which signify notes with corresponding distance above the bass
Step 3: we use judgment to choose which numbers or notes to use.
For example on Great Gig in the Sky - Pink Floyd when the bass becomes F for the second time the chord could be any of the following numbers 1 3 5 7 9 11 13 or notes F A C E G B D or Fa La Do Mi Sol Si Re but it is just Fa La Do Mi.
(Whether any of the notes will be flat or sharp will depend on the particular scale or key the composer chose for the musical composition).
Inspired by Vicky's questions.
